EAA Chapter 563 Young EaglesChapter 563 has flown 1530 Young Eagles and counting A pilot search on April 28, 2009 of the Young Eagles web site turned up 32 different Chapter 563 pilots who have flown a total of over 1500 children. Congratulations EAA wants to offer everyone between the ages of ages 8 and 17 an opportunity to fly in a private airplane with a qualified pilot. It's safe, fun, FREE, and it's fantastic! To make this happen, EAA created the Young Eagles” Program. EAA has reached a goal to fly 1,000,000 young people by the 100th anniversary of flight in the year 2003. Why does EAA do this...? To get today’s children interested in aviation. Some of these children may pursue aviation as a hobby. Others may pursue aviation carriers. In either case, it helps children focus on constructive activities.Go to our Young Eagle photo page to see some of the recent events. Chapter 563 has flown over 1200 children from Peoria and surrounding communities and several have continued on to obtain their private pilot license and pursue collage degrees in aviation. If you are interested in getting a Young Eagle ride, or in volunteering you can contact Morrie Caudill by email at flyvfr@insightbb.com or contact one of the Chapter Officers listed on the Chapter Information page. |
